In this weeks Design Week Magazine Jaki Jo features in the doodle zone article by Yolanda Zappaterra. The articles discusses the usefulness of hand drawing and the role it plays in modern illustration. Jaki Jo aggress that pencil drawing is still a necessity in her illustrating, 'I find drawing really important for my process. I'm always scribbling down ideas, mind-maps and quirky drawings. For me, it's a process of visual research that leads to my illustrations.'

On the 28th of October Jaki Jo was nominated by D&AD as a Rising Star in Design Week Magazine as an up and coming graphic artist. Lauren Woodroffe the director of eduction and professional development at D&AD was quoted in the article:


'Just over two years ago a D&AD Student Awards jury was blown away by Jaki Jo Hannan's intellect, shockingly perverse mind and wonderful use of colour. Two months later she blew away another crowd of people at the New Blood Pecha Kucha,
her performance adding the qualities "charismatic", "extrovert" and "hilariously funny" to the list of her attributes. There is no way that someone of her personality, confidence, charm and downright talent isn't going to go far.'

Ampersand Magazine Volume 3 & card, 2008

The magazine contains a selection of both Professional and Student D&AD 2008 winners. They quote Jaki Jo's work as "Perverse, punkish - perfect". One of her illustrations was also used on the card that was sent to the judges and sponsors of the 2008 Student D&AD Awards.

Pecha Kucha

New Blood exhibition, June 2008

Jaki Jo was a guest speaker at the New Blood 'The Creative Talent Show' where she spoke for five minutes and showed a selection of her illustration. She had the opportunity to challenge and provoke the audience with her views.
